Esther Viola Agresto, 58, Hinckley, died Friday, April 17 at the Sandstone Area Hospital after she had been rushed there when she became ill Friday.
Born November 22, 1923 in Plummer, Mrs. Agresto lived in and attended school in the Plummer area. For a few years she helped her parents, Levi and Hannah after school on their farm. As a young woman she moved to Chicago, Ill. where she worked in a radio parts factory. She married Rocco Agresto in Chicago in 1943. Rocco served with the U.S. Army during World War II. They lived in Chicago for several years following the war. Esther moved to Mora in 1970 and to Minneapolis in 1974. She had been living in Hinckley for the past three years where she worked in the kitchen at Tobies.
She is survived by four daughters, Corrine (James) Childress and Gladys Agresto, both of Minneapolis, Theresa Bonilla, Eau Claire, Wis., and Rosemary Agresto, Chicago, Ill.: three sons, Michael Agresto, Royalton; Joseph Agresto, Anoka; and Rocco Agresto, Jr., Chicago, Ill.;her mother, Hannah Hyry, Finlayson; two sisters, Lydia (Milo) Knudtson, Mt. Horeb, Wis., and Irene Brigham, Sandstone; a brother, Ronald Hyry, Finlayson, and ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Finlayson with Rev. Ralph Davidson officiating. The soloist was Ed Takkunen accompanied by Mrs. Jim Matson. Casket bearers were Chuck Matson, Jim Matson, Wally Matson, Eino Pahkala, Victor Johnson and Lloyd Johnson. Interment was held at the Finnish Lutheran Cemetery, Finlayson.
