Obituary :- "Dorothy Virginia Hardy Seals, 92, died peacefully, in her home, Friday, January 16, 2009, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born January 18, 1917 in Vickery, Texas to Jessie Mae (Elliott) and Robert Lee Hardy. Her family moved to Dallas Texas where Dorothy "Dottie" attended Armstrong Elementary School and Graduated from Highland Park High School. She attended Hockaday Jr. College, where she studied English Literature and French. She completed her college as a graduate of Southern Methodist University. Dottie was a wonderful Elementary Teacher in Aransas Pass, Texas, where she met her future husband, Fred C. Seals, Jr. who was attending Texas A--M College. After one year of employment by the Aransas Pass School System, she returned to Dallas and was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Service Representative. She married Fred C. Seals, Jr. April 1, 1944, in Taft AFB, California while Fred was training to be a pilot as an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. Dottie became a very devoted and loving wife and mother to three sons and one daughter. In 1958, Dottie and Fred moved to Norman, Oklahoma where they made their home. Dottie was employed by the University of Oklahoma, as a registrar for the Continuing Education Department and Fred was the Project Engineer for the construction of the Federal Aviation Aeronautical Center and the Will Rogers World Airport Terminal. Her son Robert Lee, her parents and her eight brothers and sisters preceded Dottie in death. She is survived by: her loving and devoted husband Fred C. Seals, Jr. son Fred C. III daughter Linda, son David and his wife; two granddaughters; and a grandson. She is also survived by a special friend, Greg, numerous other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends she calls family! Dottie was a wonderful homemaker and devoted her time to her Lord, husband and family! Her greatest joy seemed to be her making her family happy, especially her grandchildren! She loved watching them grow up and laugh! She would watch them grow and laugh with them and devote her time to them whenever she could! She was their "angel on earth!" Dottie, along with her beloved Fred always loved to volunteer their time and she was particularly involved with Kiwanis "Weekend of a Lifetime." In fact, Dottie was the Texas-Oklahoma First Lady 1993-94 when she and the love of her life gave birth to what has become the epitome of the leadership training for the youth of the Kiwanis, the "Weekend of a Lifetime" Program. They gave Dottie the endeared title "Godmother of Weekend of a Lifetime." It would be almost impossible to determine how many young people she had a part of their future and only God knows how many successful one's there are in a position to be influencing their communities and the world. Dottie was also an avid volunteer for the Salvation Army, a Member of the McFarlin Methodist Church for over 50 years, her Methodist Women's Circle, Sunday School Class and various other Church and community related activities. Services will be Friday, January 30, 2009, at 1 p.m. at McFarlin Memorial Methodist Church, Norman, Oklahoma, with a reception following at the Church."
