Eleanor LaVon Pedersen, 83, of Friendship, Wis., died Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship. Eleanor was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Monroe Center to Irwin and Jessie (Matthews) York.

She graduated from Adams-Friendship High School. Eleanor married Norman Henry Pedersen. April 12, 1946, in Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked at Diamonds Grocery Store and later retired from Triple P factory in Necedah.

Eleanor was one of the original women to start the Strongs Prairie Community Club. She did many crafts in her life, but was best known for the beautiful crocheting she did. She loved to accompany her husband while he did his trapping. She said she liked to go for rides, not far, but often. She was always willing to try new fun things and was always a pleasant person to be around. She loved to spend time outdoors and while able to live in their original home, she kept her lawn and flowers beautiful.

She loved to go flying with her son-in-law and daughter and was even known to have a few rides on the back of a Harley Davidson. Eleanor lived every new day as a gift. She made many friends while she resided at Villa Pines. Eleanor was a member of Arkdale Community Club and Trinity Lutheran Church.
