Mrs. Ella Schwalbe, 89, formerly of 1137 S. Union Road, Town of Manitowoc Rapids, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, September 21, 1986 at Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. Rev. Timothy J. Ehlers will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mrs. Schwalbe was born July 6, 1897 in the Town of Liberty, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Richard and Ida Schultz Luebke. She attended Town of Liberty Schools and Wisconsin Business College in 1915. She married August L. Schwalbe on November 23, 1916 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Liberty. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1982. Mrs. Schwalbe farmed in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids.

She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies Aide of the church, Lutheran Women's Missionary Society, Valders Senior Citizens and Shadyside
Homemakers Club.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Sylvia Schwalbe of rural Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Elroy Nass of rural Manitowoc; 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Johnson in 1951 and two sisters, Hertha Kaltenbrun and Esther Berge.

Friends may call at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, 5 pm to 9 pm Monday and after 10 am Tuesday at the time of services. Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with arrangements.
