Last Rites for Donald Baird of Ormsby Held
Funeral services were held for Donald Baird, 69, of Ormsby, Minn., at the Trimont Methodist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Willard Bell of St. James officiated. Pallbearers were Alden Stroschein, Frank Johnson, Albert Baarson, Carl Baarson, Kenneth Hanson and Alvin Humstad. Blake Wyman was soloist accompanied by his daughter Linda at organ. Interment was at East Side Cemetery at Estherville.
Mr. Baird died at his home Sept. 14 after several months illness. He was born March 5, 1892 in Shelby County, Iowa.
He moved with his parents, Andrew W. and Ida Barnes Baird and family to a farm near Estherville in 1915.
He was married to Carol Eastman, Aug. 28, 1918 at Pocahontas.
They lived on farms near Armstrong and Estherville and later Odin and Grove City, Minn. He retired to Ormsby about three years ago.
Surviving are his wife, four sons, Glen W., Bernard B. and Donald G., all of Cannon Falls, Minn., and Robert E. of Minneapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Edward T. (Lois) Hynes of Fairmont, Mrs. Don B. (Mildred) Cole of Dayton, Ohio and Mrs. Don (Ruth) Briese of Floodwater, Minn. and 13 grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Albert S. of Owatonna, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Ida Simpson of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 20, 1961)
