From Tim Prince, grandson of Winifred Prince; Winifred Notman was born at the family vacation home in Keene Valley because the family blamed the deaths of earlier children on unhealthy conditions in Brooklyn. She earned her law degree (possibly from Columbia), and in 1917 volunteered as an attorney to work with YWCA in France during WW I, according to her US passport application. She sailed to France on October 6, 1917. On the ship across, Army Air Corps Engineer, David Prince was attracted to her and persuaded her friend to introduce them, to satisfy social conventions. They married in Paris at the end of the war. Living in Schenectady, NY they had at least four children during the roaring 20's. She was an avid genealogist, and was approved for Mayflower Society as she had proved descent from Experience Mitchell, son-in-law of Francis Cooke. Winifred passed away in Palm Beach Florida in 1979 and was interred in the family plot in the Norton Cemetery in Keene Valley. Contributor: PJH / Angelbird (47451707) •and Tim Prince.
