"The LaFayette Sun" - June 23, 1909:
Friend Stallings showed us a model of an improved scrape that he has had patented. It seems to be a perfect implement for listing, turning and bedding land and those who have tested it speak in highest praise of the same. Mr. Stallings was a true and tried Confederate soldier, a man of up-right honest principles, and the farmers should give him a liberal patronage.

‘Mid cannon’s roar he faced the foe
On many a battlefield;
He fought to save the Southern flag,
It’s righteous cause to shield.
