Last rites were observed at 3 o’clock this afternoon in the Gray-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel for Abijah H. Mills, 83, retired Hunt county farmer and prominent resident of the Concord community, who died at 10:10 o’clock Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. McDaniel, near Caddo Mills. Rev. Grady Bradshaw officiated and interment followed in the Tidwell cemetery.

Mr. Mills had been in ill health for several months and was said to have suffered a heart attack which caused his death.

Born December 2, 1861, in Alabama, Mr. Mills was the son of Lemuel B. Mills and Ann Tolbert Mills. He came to Texas from 16 years of age and located in the Concord community, southwest of Greenville, where he made his home until recently, when he moved to the home of his daughter near Caddo Mills.

Prominent in religious and civic affairs of his community, Mr. Mills followed the vocation of farming and one of the leading citizens of this community. He was a member of Concord Baptist church.

Surviving are his widow, the former Lucy Jane Mullins of the Concord community whom he married on October 12, 1884, one son R. Q. Mills of Cedar Grove; four daughters, Mrs. J. R. Pugh, Tidwell community; Mrs. H. McDaniel, Caddo Mills; Mrs. R. P. McDaniel, New Boston, and Mrs. G. A. Pickle, Dallas, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren and other relatives.
