"The LaFayette Sun" - November 20, 1901:

Small Blaze.

Sunday morning at about 9:30 fire was discovered on the roof of the dwelling occupied by Mrs. Carrie Darden in the eastern part of town. The alarm was given and a number of men and boys rushed over and by quick work checked the flames. But for this speedy action the flames would have gotten under good headway and the dwelling would have been consumed. The property is owned by Judge A. D. Moore. The roof caught from the sparks from the chimney.
