VETERAN WORLD WAR I

Albert L Baller was born August 27, 1895 and passed away February 22, 1946 at the age of 50 years five months and 25 days. He was the youngest child of Frank and Bertha Baller, early settlers in McFadden Township 6 miles east of McCool Junction. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church when he was a child.
Albert spent his boyhood on the home farm and enlisted early in World War I and served overseas. After his discharge from the service, he spent some time in Greeley County and on June 9, 1921, he was united in marriage to Irma Preston Avenue North Loop, Nebraska. To this union three children were born. In March 201922 he moved with his wife and baby daughter to the Baller farm at blue vapor, which his father owned, and which he purchased from the estate after his father passed away.
Mr. Baller is survived by his wife and three children: Mrs. Charles Underwood Of West Blue Township; Mrs. Kenneth Taylor of Exeter, and Rex at home; two little grandsons; also three brothers: Henry of Arcadia, Frank of Callaway and William Ave., North Platte, and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Karre of Omaha and Mrs. Bertha Ogden of Corvallis, Oregon.
In addition to his farming interests Mr. Baller was an active stock buyer and feed her until his health began to fail about eight months ago. He was Active in community affairs. He served as a member of the school board in the district in where he lived. He was a member of the American Legion in Exeter.
Funeral services were held at the Bethel church at Blue Vale Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the Exeter cemetery.
"Al" as his neighbors and old friends knew him best, will be greatly missed from the usual place hero in Blue Vale. Where he has lived so long. We pay this last tribute to our neighbor who loved his river farm home. Al was also 1st Lieutenant of the 4th Nebraska Infantry, Company M. in WWI.
