Funeral Rites for Resident of Shelby County Will Be Held Monday.
John Hey, widely known Shelby county farmer, died at his home, three miles southwest of this city, in Shelby Township, at 5 a.m. Friday. Death was due to uremia. Mr. Hey had been in ill health for the past several months.
The deceased was born in Hamilton, O. on November 10, 1852, being at the time of death, eighty-six years and fifteen days old. He was the son of Peter and Catherine Hey. On Feb. 14, 1895, he was married to Louise Becht. There were no children born to this union. Survivors are the widow and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hey had lived all his married life on the farm where death occurred and was a successful farmer. He was a member of the First Evangelical church of this city.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the late home, the Rev. J. C. Kingeberman, pastor of the First Evangelical church, officiating. Charles M. Ewing is in charge of burial which will be in the Miller cemetery west of this city. Friends are asked to omit flowers. (The Shelbyville Democrat, Dec 8, 1938)
