Daniel R. Siegfried was born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, PA on 20 Dec 1767, the ninth and last child of Joseph Siegfried and Anna Maria Romig. He married Sarah Bechtel the daughter of John Bechtel and Christina Romig. Daniel and Sarah moved to what is now the Cementon Area in Lehigh County about 1800 and lived much of their adult lives in this area. Daniel died 11 Nov 1843 about a month from his 76th birthday and was buried in St. John's Cemetery in Hamburg, Berks County, PA. His widow, Sarah will die on 20 Sep 1850 at the age of 74 and be intered next to her Huaband Daniel in St. John's.

Daniel M. and Violetta had a son Daniel Franklin Siegfried, b.31 Nov 1845. Violetta (Peter) Siegfried died on 31 Jan 1849 when her son Daniel F. was slightly over 3 years old. The 1850 census shows that Widower Daniel M., with his young son, moved back home with his parents in Siegfried's Bridge. Daniel H. sold his property in Siegfried's Bridge in 1851 and moved the family to a farm with P.O. Delaware Grove, Mercer County. PA. Daniel M. remarried in Delaware Grove and had six more children: Henry J., John M., Christian A., Eugene, Cyrus S. and Edwin W.
