Edwin Nicholas Burghardt was born in Madison county, Illinois, on January 27, 1897. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burghardt. As a small child he moved with his parents from Illinois to a farm west of Canton, Oklahoma.

"On March 27, 1920 he married Bula May Sanderson and to this union five children were born.

"He was a member of the Canton Christian church and passed away in Christ at his home in Watonga on June 11, 1959. He was 62 years of age.

"He is survived by his wife of the home and five children; Le Roy Burghardt, Harvard, Nebraska; Ray and Gene Burghardt, Enid; Joy May Cavett, Deer Creek, and Cleta Fay Caywood, Still water. Three brothers, Theodore, Frankie and Wilbur, all of Canton. Two sisters, Martha Reese and Leona Nusz, both of Canton...."
