Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Melancon Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas for Bettie J. Travis, 67, who passed away Monday August 8, 2011 at her residence in Melville. Interment will be in the First Baptist Cemetery in Melville.
Mrs. Travis was a native of Holly Ridge, a resident of Melville and retired from Speedy Junction Inc.
Survivors include her mother, Marvell Marie Parker; her husband, Douglas Naquin; Four Daughters, Tammie Guthrie and her boyfriend Dennis, Ann Caballero and her husband Scotty, Kathy Travis and her husband Louis and Melissa Cummings and her husband Bobby; Two brothers, Jay W. Cummings and Roy Parker; Five Sisters, Myrtle Mae King, Freida Mae Parker, Alice Parker, Gladys Parker and Theresa Ann Parker; Also survived by eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Wilson Cummings, Sr.; Two brothers, Bobbie Joe Cummins and Tommy Roy Parker; a sister, Cheryl Byrd; a daughter, Judy Lynn Travis and a granddaughter, Mallory Jordan Cummings.
