Leroy D. Button, 86, of Witt Yoder Personal Care Home, Nauvoo, formerly of Wellsboro RR 3, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Witt Yoder Personal Care Home. Born Dec. 27, 1914, in Waterville, he was the son of George Melvin Delos Button and Anna Belle Winnie Button. He was the husband of Margaret Ainsworth Ramsay Button and the late Lucretia Starkweather Button who died in 1967. He worked in the CC Camps, was a cook/laborer for the N.Y. Central Railroad, was a caretaker of Harrison Lookout for a period of time, and retired as machine maintenance operator, Pump Station at the Summit, Brownlee, and meter reader and reservoir caretaker for the Wellsboro Borough. Preceding him in death was his son, Robert, in 1977. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Ainsworth Ramsey Button, a resident of Witt Yoder Personal Care Home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Steve Harris of Millerton, Lucille and George Parker of Wellsboro and Ruth and Phillip Zuchowski of Antrim; three sons and daughters-in-law, Francis and Brenda Button of Keating Summitt, Ernest and Mary Lou Campbell of Morang, Ariz., and Howard and Donna Campbell of Wellsboro; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl "Jack" Button of Jersey Shore, Bravo and Helen Button of Marshlands and George Button of Emporium; two sisters, Roseltha Miller of Jersey Mills and Christina Winne of Watrous; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held there Friday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Hickok officiating. Burial will be made at Shumway Hill Cemetery.
