SOUTH YARMOUTH - Margaret E. (Quatman) Baker, 91, died Thursday at Eagle Pond Nursing Home, South Dennis.She was the wife of Harold C. “Bake” Baker for 62 years.Mrs. Baker was born in Logansport, Ind., raised in Indianapolis and received an associate’s degree from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Ind., and a bachelor’s degree from Butler University in Indianapolis. Upon graduation, she began a lifelong career in social work.After retiring from the commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1981, she and her husband retired to South Yarmouth from Needham. She was active at Yarmouth Senior Center and enjoyed many hours with the knitting group. She also enjoyed traveling throughout North America and Europe. She was a voracious reader.Besides her husband, survivors include three sons, Jack of Novato, Calif., Larry of Norwell and Bob of Sutton a daughter, Betsy Gahan of Winthrop seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Morris Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, Yarmouth. A funeral is at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home, followed at 11 a.m. by a funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial is in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.Memorial donations may be made to South Yarmouth Public Library, 312 Old Main St., South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
