Ellen L. Kennedy, 85, of Keene, died Tuesday afternoon at Langdon Place of Keene following a period of declining health.
She was born on September 23, 1925 in Harrisville, the daughter of John J. and Maria (Isakson) Luoma. She grew up in Harrisville and went on to graduate from Peterborough High School.
After high school, Mrs. Kennedy attended business school. She eventually went to work as an office worker for the State of NH Department of Transportation where she worked for many years.
Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the American Legion Gordon-Bissell Post #4 Auxiliary.
Earlier in her life, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens. Also, she and her husband, William H. Kennedy, use to enjoy spending their summers on various lakes in the region.
Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her granddaughter, Jennifer C. Marcello, of Marlborough and her children Angelica A., Savannah M., Jacob W. and Dalton J. Marcello; step children Michael Kennedy of Marlborough, Bruce Kennedy of Charlestown, Maureen Bran and their families; several nieces and nephews and their families.
Mrs. Kennedy's husband William H. Kennedy, daughter Sandra E. Walker and son Bruce D. Walker died earlier. In addition her brothers Arvo J., Eino W., Lauri J. Luoma and her sister Elsa L. Cuddihee also died earlier.
Services for Mrs. Kennedy will be held this Saturday, July 9th, 2011, 2:00 pm at the Community Church of Harrisville, 13 Canal St., Harrisville, NH. Burial will follow at the Island Cemetery also in Harrisville. Rev. Patrick Seymour will officiate. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH are in charge of the arrangements.
