Homer Charles "Babe" Ageon Jr., 71, of Harrisonburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Ageon was born on June, 24, 1937, in Marksville, Va., and was the son of the late Homer Charles and Edith Batman Ageon. He attended Harrisonburg High School, where he played football and the trumpet in the high school band. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1957 until 1959, Homer worked as an electrician for 31 years for James Madison University. During his life, Homer loved spending time outdoors and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also played baseball in the Rockingham County Baseball League for many years, as well as the 40 and over and the 60 and over baseball leagues. For 26 years, he worked on the "Chain Gang" for James Madison Football games. Homer was a man who put everyone else first before himself, and never met a stranger. On August 2, 1957, he married Mona Clatterbuck, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ageon is survived by a daughter, Lisa Knicely and husband Jeff Kratzer of Harrisonburg; and one  grandson, Addison Knicely, also of Harrisonburg.  Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Nelson officiating. Burial followed at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg. The family received friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Muhlenberg Lutheran Church, 281 E. Market Street, Harrisonburg, Va. 22801; or to the RMH Regional Cancer Center, 100 E. Grace Street, Harrisonburg, Va. 22801.
