Kenny was born on February 4, 1943 in Walton, West Virginia to the late Charles and Myrtle Shafer.
Kenny was a member of the Old Way Baptist Church in Clinton where he enjoyed attending as much as possible. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Kenny is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Buck, and Jerry Shafer; Sisters, Sybil and Gay Shafer, Mary Looney
Kenny is survived by his Wife of 44 years Evelyn Shafer of Lake City Son Keith Shafer and Fiance Marsha York of Walton, West Virginia Brothers Ray Shafer and wife Sheryl of Walton, West Virginia Tiny Shafer of Spencer, West Virginia James Shafer and wife Sandy of Walton, West Virginia Sister in Laws Juanita Shafer of Walton, West Virginia Karen Kennedy and husband Ricky of Briceville
Joyce Sharp and husband Roy of Briceville Grandchildren Robert Shafer of Oak RIdge Steven, John, Ashley, and Amber York of Walton, West Virginia
The family will receive friends at the Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 6-8PM with the funeral service to follow at 8:00PM with the Rev. Danny Martin officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:30AM and go in funeral procession to the Oak Grove Cemetery for a 11:00 AM graveside service. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City is in charge of all arrangements.
