Myrtle Shafer, 87, of Walton, Roane County, died Sunday, July 21, 1996, in Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after a short illness. She was a homemaker. Surviving: sons, Charles and Curry, of Cleveland, Ohio, Kenny of Lake City, Tenn., Murry and James, of Walton, Danny Ray of Gandeeville; daughters, Sybil Ascher and Lessie Gay Erwin, of Portland, Ore., Mary Looney of Clendenin; sisters, Mamie Lowe of Spencer, Emma Jackson and Edna Taylor, of Walton; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sinnett-Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Haught officiating. Burial will be in Shafer Cemetery, Walton. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
