Josephine Thill Dies Following Brief Illness
Daughter of Marion Township Pioneers Lived Here Her Entire Life
Mrs. Josephine Thill, 56, residing at 169 First Avenue NW., a life long resident of Plymouth county, died, Tuesday, at the Sacred Heart hospital following an illness of one week.
Mrs. Thill was born June 1, 1880, on a farm in Marion township and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mayrose, pioneer settlers and prominent farmers in the community for many years. Miss Josephine Mayrose grew up and received her early education in the rural and parochial schools. She was united in marriage October 3, 1900, with John Thill, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Father Henry Rolfes in St. Catherine's church at Oyens. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Thill farmed south of Oyens and in 1929 came to Le Mars to make their home.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, John Thill; two sons and three daughters, Joseph, Vincent, Katherine, of Le Mars; Rozella and Lucinda, of Sioux City; and four grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers and sisters, Mrs. Barney Bornhorst, Remsen; J. B. Mayrose, Remsen; J. C. Mayrose, Albert Mayrose, Mary Mayrose, Le Mars; Mrs. Matt Costello, Sioux City; Adolph and Isadore, Le Mars.
The funeral will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock in St. James church, Rev. L. J. Cooper officiating, and interment made in St. Joseph cemetery.
Mrs. Thill was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
The pallbearers will be Henry Meyer, Louis Okerstrom, John Mack, John Rolling, Frank Braband and Frank Bolke.
