JOSEPH MAYROSE TAKEN BY DEATH
Well Known And Stockman In Marion Township For Many Years

Joseph Mayrose, a resident of Plymouth county for fifty-four years, died December 23 at the Sacred Heart hospital following an illness of six weeks at the age of nearly 80 years. He was a prominent farmer and stockman in Marion township and had a wide aquaintance in Plymouth and Sioux counties.

Joseph Mayrose was born April 20, 1854 in Oldenburg, Germany, and was 79 years, 8 months and 3 days old at the time of his death.

When a youth he emigrated from his native land and came to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1869, where he worked in a dairy and later on a tobacco farm. Coming west he located at Dyersville, Iowa, where he worked at divers occupations for seven years.

He was united in marriage with Katharine Mormann at St. Petersburg, Iowa, January 15, 1878, the ceremony taking place in the church at St. Peter and St. Paul. His wife preceded him in death October 27, 1928.

He is survived by a large family who are Mrs. John Thill, Le Mars; Mrs. Barney Bornhorst, Remsen; J. B. Mayrose, Remsen, J. C. Mayrose, F. X. Mayrose, E. J. Mayrose, Mary Mayrose, Albert B. Mayrose, Adolph H. Mayrose, Isadore H. Mayrose, Mrs. Matt Costello, Sioux City, thirty-seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Caroline Luttle and a brother, Barney Mayrose, Le Mars.

Last rites will be held Wednesday morning at St. Catherine's church in Oyens at 9:30, Rev. Father Rolfes officiating and interment made in St. Mary's cemetery in Remsen.

Mr. Mayrose was a good citizen and neighbor and held in high esteem by all who knew him.

Funeral services for Joe Mayrose were held at St. Catherine's church at Oyens on Wednesday morning. Rev. Fr. Rolfes officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery at Remsen. Mr. Mayrose was a long time resident of Marion township and was highly respected among all who knew him. The community extends sympathy to the surviving relatives.
