The beloved wife and mother who passed away has been our sister in Christ Mme Auguste Knueppel. She was born mars 22, 1863 near by Independance in Washington county as legal daughter of Johann Abel and his wife Wilhelmine born Logen. Little Auguste just reached the age of two when she lost her mother by dead and so experienced the udmost hardness that could happen to a child in its early youth. A few years later the father died as well. So Auguste and her brother and sister are left orphans. Sympathetic people at Zionsville took care of the poor children and
brought them üp. That was how come that Auguste as a child attended the school at Zionsville
and was also confirmed there. How much might Auguste have felt sad in her heart on this confirmation day that no dear father´s eye or loving mother´s heart could be with her. Only
under strange peoples attention she proceeded to the Altar for consecration. But she had a sole comfort which made her heart quiet and glad: It was the comfort of the psalmist who felt similarly and shouted out to Auguste Abel and to many of the people present: My father and my mother left me but the Lord received me. In fact the Lord took her in his care. Yes, He was and stayed with her
also the following 4 years when she had to earn her living as a servant. Being 18 years old, she won
heart and hand of a honest man. It was he year 1880 when she became married with Hans Knueppel. How much her heart got filled with happiness when she started he own household
together with her husband. It was like arriving home from abroad. She and her husband
consequently lived together very happy. The following years they did farming in the Salem community close to Brenham and as they succeeded by means of their diligence and Gods
blessing, they bought the place where they had been living. Mme Knueppel- although quite tender-
was always working hard and with her it rendered true: If life has been exquisit,it has been effort and labor. But God had been also kind to the married couple: 12 children was His gift to he parents.
The eldest, a boy, died in infancy but the other eleven are alive: 6 sons and 5 daughters.
From the boys Wilhelm, Otto and Fritz are married while Johannes, Carl and Eddy are staying in the parents home. 4 of the daughters have left home getting married: Louise as Mme Kuhlmann,
Minna as Mme Sternberg, Emma as Mme Naumann and Frieda as Mme Sommerfield.
Mathilda is still with her father at home. Mme Knueppel has brought up all of her children to trust in God. Might the children conduct their lifes in the same believe in God as their mother did and died. Than they will be well here and in eternity. Mme Knueppel although effective mother, was nevertheless ailing since a few years. It was an inner suffering which consumed her strength fast
especially the last time. The husband and the children trie everything to ease the suffering og her beloved mother. But it was not the will of the Lord , that she should continue to suffer any longer,
He wanted to bring her to rest. She died quitely and in her believe in God and a vivid trust in the Lord saturday 8 pm. She reached an age of 57 years, 1 month and 11 days.
Her husband – Fritz Knueppel- and all the 11 chidren and 15 grandchildren, one sister and one brother are mourning of the beloved deceased and we offer our heart felt condolences to them all.
God may offer her the eternal rest and the heavens light may shine onto her.
