Hartpence Dies In Home In City May 15 - Funeral Services For Aged Man Are Held At One O'clock On The Same Day
Willis Elmer Hartpence died Wednesday, May 15, at the family home on sixth street at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday at 1 o'clock with Rev. T. N. Weeks and Rev. A. J. Bradshaw officiating.
The remains were shipped to Mount Gilead, Ohio, by Littrell and Moore.

Former County Official Dead - Willis Hartpence, Former Treasurer, Dies In Oklahoma
Funeral services for Willis Hartpence, 71, who died in Sayre, Oklahoma, last Wednesday evening, from a complication of diseases following influenza, were conducted in the Methodist church here Monday by Rev. C.A. Riggs, pastor of the Edison Methodist church.
In September 1906, Mr. Hartpence was elected county treasurer and held this office for four years. Shortly after leaving here, Mr. and Mrs. Hartpence moved to Oklahoma where they have lived since that time.
Mr. Hartpence is survived by his wife, formerly Elva Iler, and seven children. Five boys, Ralph, John, Everett, Roland (sic s/b Dorland), Neal are all living in Oklahoma. He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Lennord, of Columbus, and Mrs. Ray Kelly of Edison. One brother, Elza, of Mt. Gilead, also survives.
