Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The service will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel, with Brother Henry Melton and Brother Don McGee officiating. Entombment will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Mausoleum.
Tony served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He retired from Union Carbide and always looked forward to attending the Sweetwater Reunion. He also loved outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, Alabama football and Braves baseball, and had a great love for the Tennessee River, where he enjoyed camping.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Davenport; mother, Fannie Davenport; sisters, Nettie Burns, Naomi Lyles, Laura Atkinson; and brother, Russell Davenport.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 64 years and fishing partner, Bobbie Davenport. He also is survived by his son, Bruce Davenport (Diane); daughter, Brenda Bray; two grandchildren, Andi Schachter (Doron), Gentry Davenport (Crystal); brother-in-law, Buddy Armstrong (Joyce). He had numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
Pallbearers will be Doug Griffin, Gaston Atkinson, Denny Wells, Gentry Davenport, Danny Lyles and Buddy Armstrong.
