Harry W. Gowen will be pulling down the shutter on his window in the Biddeford post office late Thursday afternoon after 41 years and six months service.
A popular and efficient worker, he made thousands of friends in his years as postal
clerk and in the exacting duty of civil service examining clerk.
He will be looking forward to a lively retirement keeping up with the various farm duties at his home in North Kennebunk.

Harry Wales Gowen, age 83, died last night
in a local hospital following a long illness.
He was graduated from Biddeford High School.
In his early life, he was employed as an electrician at Pepperell Manufacturing Company, then at the post office.
He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Saco-Biddeford; Retired Federal Postal Employees; United Federation Postal Clerks; York Royal Arch Chapter of Saco; Adah Chapter; Order of the Eastern Star; a life member of St. Armand Commandery; Knight Templars of Kennebunk; Dunlap Lodge; and, an honorary member of of Bradford Chapter, Order of DeMolay of Saco.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
