Edward P. Hilgenberg, known as Eddie, was born on October 12, 1924 in Washington, D.C. Eddie was a proud WWII veteran who served in the Navy on the USS Omaha. He worked for the Defense Mapping Agency for 37 years. Eddie's memberships included: St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Odenton, Anne Arundel Co, MD, a long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, Anne Arundel Co, MD, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 226 in Mayo, Anne Arundel Co, MD, the Londontown Peppers, and the Defense Mapping Seniors.

Mr. Hilgenberg, 86, of Odenton and previously of Edgewater, died July 13, 2011. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Timothy D. Norton. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude; his beloved step-children, Wayne (Debbie) Norton, JoAnn (Karen Yanity) Norton and Sherree (Timothy) Bolyard; one sister, Louise Divver; also survived by eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Eddie's Life Celebration was held at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday July 18. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 19 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd, Edgewater, MD. Interment was in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, 2115 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101.
