He was born Nov. 14, 1928 in St. George, Utah, to Frank Edgar and Eunice Miller Mineer. He was raised in Overton, NV, and Parker and died in Fairfield, CA, where he lived for 47 years.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a full-time mission to the Central Atlantic States.
Byron served in the U.S. Air Force for six years, teaching missile electronics and radar, and was a lifeguard at the NCO beach.
He attended Ricks College, Utah State and San Francisco State University. He homesteaded a farm in Minidoka.
Byron taught in the military and in the public school system for 47 years, where his passion was science and mathematics. He was well-known for methods and patience in teaching mathematical and science concepts. Also, he became a global manufacturer's representative and started several small businesses. There was never a person he met that he did not want to talk to and teach them one of his "math tricks."
His spirit is now free and happy to reunite with his eternal family in Heaven.
He is preceded in death by parents, Frank Edgar and Eunice Miller Mineer, a brother, two sisters, and a great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ila Mae Apgood Mineer; children: Rodney Mineer, Donald (Karen) Mineer, Linda (Kirk) Anderson, Brent (Sherry) Mineer and Paul (Shelly) Mineer; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 31 and Aug. 1, 2011 in Fairfield, CA.
