Anna (Haas) Smitke

Mrs. Anna (Haas) Smitke passed away early Friday morning at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville on April 27, 1973.
She was born November 13, 1885 at Chilton, Wisconsin. At an early age they moved to Thorp. Her parents were Casper and Brigite Haas.
On August 4, 1908 she was married to Frank Smitke, who preceded her in death in September of 1966. After the death of her husband, she moved to Neillsville, where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John (Cecelia) Bryan.
Survivors are one son, Frederick of Thorp; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Regina) Dodmead, Mrs. Lucille Matousek and Mrs. John (Cecelia) Bryan, all of Neillsville; 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Kass and two brothers, Joseph and Casper, all of Thorp. Besides her husband, three sisters and two brothers preceded her death.
Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Church and burial was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were six grandsons, Kenneth Dodmead of Addison, Illinois, Larry and Frank Matousek of Milwaukee, Bruce Bryan of Wheaton, Illinois and Eugene and Arlyn Bryan of Neillsville.
Many relatives from Illinois, Milwaukee, Menasha, Stanley, Chippewa Falls, Cadott, Merrillan, Greenwood, Duluth, Minnesota, Neillsville and many relatives and friends from Thorp attended the services.
