Phyllis May Willard Harter, 86 of Auburn, Indiana died on Saturday, April 12, 2003, at her daughter's home on Cedar Lake in Howe, Indiana. She was born on August 18, 1916 in LaGrange, Indiana.

She was a nurse at Souder Hospital in Auburn and also at Dr. Harry Covell's office from 1962 to 1986.

Surviving are two sons; Carl (Susan) Harter of San Jose, California, Peter (Lorna) Harter of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and two daughters; Nancy (Harold) George of South Bend, Indiana, and Miriam (Calvin) Carnahan of Howe, Indiana, one sister Louise Willard Payne of St. Petersburg Florida; 11 grandchldren: Carl, Sheryl, Valarie, Shannon and Mark Harold, Melissa and Matthew Carnahan and Andrew, Joel, and Seth Harter of Fort Wayne and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Walford Harter on August 7, 1962; and brothers; Ransom, Carl "Dey" and Joe Willard.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Auburn Presbyterian Church, Auburn, with the Rev. William Haworth officiating. Calling is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo. Burial at Cedar Creek Chapel Cemetery, Garrett: Memorials to Auburn Presbyterian Church.
