Born in Branchton, May 22, 1931, she was the daughter of Thomas and Clara Hockenberry McCandless.
A 1949 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, she retired in 1984 from the Grove City School District as a cafeteria worker at the high school. She formerly was a phone operator at Bell Telephone in Grove City.
Mrs. Coulter was a 49-year member of the Tower Presbyterian Church of Grove City, where she had been an elder and deacon. She also belonged to the White Shrine Chapter 53 of Grove City.
Survivors are her husband, Chester W. Coulter, whom she married Sept. 20, 1951; two sons, Dennis C. and Thomas G. Coulter, both of Grove City; and two grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Eller of Erie, Mrs. James (Kathryn) Hockenberry of Clintonville and June Coulter of Grove City, and a brother, Kenneth S. McCandless of Grove City.
She was preceded in death by a sister and six brothers.
COULTER - Private viewing for the family of Clara M. McCandless Coulter, who died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, will be Thursday evening at
CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave. Grove City. Private services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev John Culp, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Union Home Cemetery, Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.
Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Tower Church, 248 S. Broad St., Grove City, PA 16127; or the Alzheimer's Association, 3695 Boardman-Canfield Road, Bldg. 2, Suite 301, Canfield, OH 44406-9009.
