Henry Anderson Cook was a volunteer in Company G, 31st GA regiment, Georgia Volunteers, Evans Brigade, Gordon's Division, Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America. Married Sarah Ann Elizabeth Jones 1/11/1846. Enlisted May 11,1862. Died at age 34 on 10/15/1862 of ankle wound in fighting around Miller's cornfield on Antietam Battlefield after amputation of his leg twice(above & below the knee) in hospital in Shepherdstown WVA. Also buried in Shepherdstown WV. He left a wife with 4 children in GA of which one was my daddy's' father--James McKeen (Jim Mac) Cook born in 1858. His widow apparently never remarried and died June 19,1905 & is buried in Parrott, GA city cemetery in Terrell County, GA. His widow's pension is on file in State of GA Archives & attached here.
