Mrs. Sarah E. Cook, who states DOB abt 1828, has a CSA Widow's pension application on line in the Georgia Archives Virtual Vault. She says she married Henry A. Cook on 11 Jan 1846. He enlisted in April 1862 and served with Company G of the 31st GA vols. He was wounded in the foot at the Battle of Sharpsburg, Va on 17 Sept 1862. At the hospital at Shepherdstown, his leg was amputated below the knee. Later it was amputated above the knee, but he died on 16 Oct 1862 and never returned home.
