The following was taken from the Jan. 16, 1945 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Mrs. Eliza Oxendine Goins, 87, died Monday at 12 noon at her home near Pembroke after a period of declining health and illness of a week.
Final rites will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Harper's Ferry Baptist church by Rev. Tommy Swett and interment will be in the Jim Oxendine cemetery near the church.
Mrs. Goins was the wife of the late Robert Goins, who died in 1919. Surviving are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Will Roller of the home, and one brother, Hardy Oxendine of Maxton, R. 3. Her father was the late Jim Oxendine.
