SHREVEPORT, LA - Charles Brister left this world on July 30. Pop was born on May 8, 1927, in Provencal, La. Visitation will be Aug 2, 5-7pm. Services will be Aug 3, 10am, at Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether, Shreveport, La, 71109. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Keithville.

Pop's loves were his family, reading, NASCAR, working on any engine, his garden, the Dallas Cowboys, and Fox News. Pop was devoted to his county, serving in the US Navy during WWII.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Lynn; parents, and two sisters. Pop is survived by Jerry, his wife of 32 years, and four daughters; Kayla (Mike) Hopper, Lorie Lefevers, Vicki (Joel) Janzen, and Lisa Granberry; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Myrtle Salim. Pallbearers are his grandsons.

There are so many words that describe Pop. Honesty, integrity and love are just a few. He was the best husband, father, and friend, and we will miss him.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
