Services were held on Jan. 6, 1997 for Emma Hyronimus, of Lennox, SD, who died Friday morning, Jan. 3, 1997, having attained the age of 83 years, nine months and 23 days.

Interment was to be in the Delaware Cemetery, Lennox, SD.

Emma Odland Hyronimus was born on a farm near Davis, SD, on Mar. 10, 1913, the daughter of Ole A. and Andrina (Fugalsaby) Odland. She moved with her parents to Tea, SD where she attended rural school and grew to womanhood.

On Apr. 24, 1935,she was united in marriage to Harm Hyronimus, Jr., at the Delaware Parsonage.

They lived on his parents farm southeast of Lennox. Harm was killed when his airplane crashed at the farm on Nov. 13, 1939. She later moved to her parental farm north of Lennox, where she farmed most of her life. After the deaths of her parents and brothers,she continued to make her home on the farm one mile north of Lennox.

Mrs. Hyronimus had fractured her hip as the result of falling on the ice at her home on Dec. 13, 1996. She became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center in Lennox on Dec. 19.

Besides the death of her husband in 1939,she was preceded in death by her father on Feb. 15, 1963, her mother on Oct. 14, 1966; three brothers: one in infancy; Olaf Odland on Jan. 9, 1989, and Arthur Odland on May 26, 1990.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sister, Ruth Surdez, of Lingle, WY; one nephew, Russell Surdez and his wife, Minnie of Lingle, WY.
