Funeral services for the late Patrick J. Christy, whose death occurred at the State Hospital at Independence, Ia., on Tuesday, Jan. 26th, were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in this city last Friday forenoon; the service being conducted by Rev. Fr. J. J. Murtagh. Interment of his remains was made in the Catholic cemetery.
The deceased was born in Osceola township, south Franklin, just over the county line (in Ackley) on June 16, 1866, son of pioneer residents of the community, and he had lived here through the years—one of the oldest, if not the oldest—of our "native sons." Many friends were in attendance at his funeral, as evidence of t heir respect. Mr. Christy was straightforward and "square" all through life.
He was one of several brothers and sisters, the brothers George, Joe, Michael, and two sisters, Bridget, Omaha, Nebraska, preceding him in death; surviving are his three sisters, Mrs. William Hayes, Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. Robb (Anna) at Pittsburgh, Pa., Miss Katherine, at home in Ackley, and with whom the deceased had made his home through the years.
