Her children arise up, and call her blessed… Proverbs 31:28
Alberta Bellamy Cleek, 79 of Kingsport was welcomed into the Presence of God on Thursday, July 28, 2011. Surrounded by her children who indeed "arise up, and call her blessed", she triumphantly left this life to claim her eternal rewards and joined the love of her life, Charlie R. Cleek whose hand and heart she had clung to since his death in April 2010. The Joy Bells of Heaven rang once again as this beautiful couple parted by death in this world were re-joined in Heaven for an eternity of praising Jesus. A long time resident of Kingsport, Alberta was born June 28, 1932 in Scott County, VA and raised in East Carter's Valley in Sullivan County, TN. In addition to her husband, Charlie, she was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Nevada Bellamy; sisters, Lucille Bellamy and Pauline Salley; and brothers, Howard C. Bellamy, Jimmy Lee Bellamy and Billy Bellamy. She is survived by all five of her children; Teresa Fillers Fleenor, Dennis R. Cleek and wife Dawn, Perry W. Cleek and wife Debbie, Peggy J. Smith and husband Ivan (all of Kingsport) and Charles "Steve" Cleek and wife Vivian of Knoxville, TN. Also surviving are six grandsons; Jeff Fleenor, Justin Fleenor, Wes Smith, Michael Smith, Matthew Cleek, Chad Cleek and six grand-daughters; Angel Light, Jessica Holbrook, Tina Smith, Amy Ketron, Susan Rice and Torie Kendall along with 23 great-grandchildren. In addition, Alberta is survived by two sisters; her twin, Roberta Wasdin and husband, George of Houma, LA and Norma Jean Wilson of Forrest City, AK. Living the very definition of the "Proverbs 31 Woman", Alberta knew what her priorities were and her life demonstrated her faithfulness to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her church (she was a member at Charity Baptist Church in Blountville), her loving husband of 60 plus years and her children. Only after her children were in school, did she follow her own dream of being a nurse and returned to school to achieve that goal. She worked night shift at Holston Valley Hospital for many years to ensure that she was available both mornings and evenings for her family. Upon her early retirement in 1980, she devoted her time to "whatever Charlie wants to do", spending much time in traveling, camping, fishing and loving her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. As the frailties of this life became more evident, her faith in God remained ever present allowing her to spend many hours singing of the "Precious Memories", "Amazing Grace" and "Old Rugged Cross". The Heavenly Choir is richer today with the addition of her beautiful voice. All who had the privilege of knowing and spending time with this precious lady will forever treasure the beauty of her smile, cheerful spirit, willingness to help….the list goes on and on. ….and let her own works praise her…. Proverbs 31:31
The family will receive friends 5 PM -7PM on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Charity Baptist Church, 3020 Hwy 126, Blountville, TN 37617. A memorial service will follow with Alberta's son, Pastor Perry Cleek delivering the "Celebration of Life and Love" message. Graveside services will be conducted at 7 AM on Sunday morning in East Lawn Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
