Elizabeth "Ma" Hilditch was born 27 Mar 1877 in the Richmond Union Workhouse in Richmond, Surrey, England. Her parents were William and Emma Becks Hebburn. She and her two sisters, Rose and Ellen (Mary), arrived in Canada 18 Jun 1887 as part of the British Home Children program. Her brother, George, apparently stayed in England. She was in North Tonawanda, New York by 1894 when she married Walter Hilditch. Her married sister Rose was also in North Tonawanda. Where Elizabeth's sister Ellen ended up is unknown at this time. Rose Hebburn Collins Clarkson is buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery (202534848).
