Margaretta was born in Stuttgart, Neckakreis, Wuettemberg, Germany to George Wiles (b.1710, d.?) and Elizabeth Christina ? (b.1713, d.?) Wiles. She was their second daughter.

Margaretta Elizabeth Wiles married the Lutheran farmer Conrad Beighley during 1764 in Hagerstown, Fredrick County, Maryland.

They named their children: John, Susanna "Shushey", Henry, Jacob, Peter, Catherine, George, Daniel, William, Mary "Polly" M. and Elizabeth "Betsy" Beighley.

About 1769 the farm family relocated from Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland to Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
