Harrriet married Edwin Lucius Wells, son of Beriah and Lois Wells, 14 Feb 1855. They had a total of five children. Unfortunately, Frederick, Frances and an unknown infant all died at an early age. Son James and daughter Jennie did grow to adulthood, marry and have children of their own.
Harriet and Edwin lived in Newark Valley for the first few years of their marriage, they by 1865 they had moved to Lisle, where Edwin was farming. By 1870 Harriet's widowed mother, Rosanna, had moved in with the family. Edwin passed away in 1873. Rosanna continued to live with the family until her own death in 1881.
By 1892 Harriet had moved to Triangle, New York to live with her son James and his family. She continued living with them until the time of her death.
It is interesting to note that the will for Harriet's mother Rosanna shows Rosanna gave many hundreds of dollars away to various missionary societies, but gave just small household items to her own children, including Harriet, and virtually nothing to Harriet's children. It makes you wonder why, when Harriet took her mother into her home and supported her for all of those last years of her life. One can only hope something was done for Harriet and her children outside of the confines of the will as the mother was obviously well to do.
