Dallas – Millie Adams, 91, of Dallas died on July 27, 2011 at the Dallas Retirement Village. She was born on February 7, 1920 to William and Veenna Brooks in Bull Run, Oregon; the 2nd eldest of 8 children. She attended Monmouth High School, and then married Raymond H. Adams in June of 1937, when she was just 17. They purchased a 160 acre farm southeast of Dallas in 1939, and their son, Raymond G. Adams, was born in February of 19XX.

Millie and her husband, Ray, trained and raced horses for over 20 years in Oregon, Washington, California, and Arizona. During the winter, when they weren't racing, Millie worked part time as a bookkeeper at the Dallas Pharmacy. She was a proud member of the First Baptist Church in Dallas for over 40 years. When her husband passed away in March of 2000, Millie lived for a time on the farm and then moved to the Dallas Retirement Village in 2006.

Millie Adams loved Oregon, camping, fishing, and painting. She loved the Lord and her extended family at the First Baptist Church. She led a full life and at 91 was ready to go with the Lord when He came to take her home. He led her away in the gentlest way; she just fell asleep one night and they left together. She is survived by her son Raymond G. Adams, and brothers and sisters; Marie Knight, of Vancouver, WA, Robert Brooks, of Dallas, OR, Jack Brooks, McMinnville, OR, Verla Ann Pitts, McKenny, TX, Ron Brooks, Phoenix, AZ, and her 2 granddaughters; Lisa Cripps and Erik Cripps, both of CA.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of the Dallas Retirement Village who provided Millie with a safe, compassionate, and caring environment in which to live out her latter days. They also thank the hospital staff and the Salem Hospital for the wonderful level of care they provided to Millie and their support of her family. – Thank You!!

The funeral service is planned for Monday, August 1st at 1:00PM at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. A private family committal service will be held at the Dallas Cemetery at a later time. Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is handling the arrangements.
