Maria and Joseph married 14 Mar 1876 in Clinton Co. They had three children Ruhama, Edward and Charley Smith. Edward was a prominent farmer in first Clinton Co then Boone Co until his death in 1963. Charley stayed at the Clinton Co homestead where he farmed until his death in 1959. Ruhama died in 1907 at age 28 following the birth of her first baby.
