Margaret Louise Thomas Belin of Houston, passed away at her home on March 24, 2003 at the age of 94. She was a beloved and faithful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 27, 2003, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway, Dr. H. Edwin Young officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
Margaret was born in Camilla, Ga. on Sept. 10, 1908.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie Smith and S.O. Thomas; husband, James Bruce Belin; son, Gary O. Belin; and grandchild, Michael Belin.
She is survived by sons James Bruce Belin, Jr. and wife, Mary Ann; M. Douglas Belin and wife, Teddie; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Belin. She is also survived by grandchildren, Greg Belin and wife Blair; Laurie Belin Mahlmann and husband, Dr. Lee Mahlmann; Susan Belin Freeman and husband, Bert; Jaimie Belin Freeman and husband, Bert; Gary Lamar Belin and wife, Shelley; James Scott Belin and wife, Lorrie Ann; Barbara Belin Maddox and husband, Jeff. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Alison Belin Seay and husband, Steve; Katie Belin; Melissa Belin; Colleen Mahlmann; Courtney Mahlmann; Chad Mahlmann and wife, Jodi; Bradley Maddox; Laura Maddox; Gary Lamar Belin, Jr.; James Scott Belin, Jr.; Stephanie King Johnson and husband, Dr. Darryl Johnson; Jeremy Belin and wife, Julie. Lastly, she is survived by her great-great grandchildren, Benjamin Johnson; Benjamin Belin Seay; and Abigail Grace Belin.
Margaret Belin was a charter member of Second Baptist Church Houston and a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class & LLL Senior Citizen Group. She was very active in her church, serving on every committee from Missions to Bible Study. She was a member of The Guild at Houston Baptist University and served many years as a volunteer at the Baptist Haven.
Pallbearers are Greg Belin, Lee Mahlmann, Bert King, Gary Belin, Scott Belin, and Jeff Maddox.
