Sarah Jane Bickell was born near Peru, Ind., April 14, 1864. At an early age she united with the Christ in obedience to his call through the gospel. In the autumn of 1879 she moved with her parents to Topeka, Kans.
On Thanksgiving day in 1889 she was united in marriage to Horace T. N. Bickell. They lived near Topeka until Sept. 1899, when they moved to Perkins and she has lived in this vicinity ever since.
To this union was born seven children, two daughters and five sons. One daughter and one son and her husband preceded her in death.
She passed away September 8 at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 24 days.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy J. Davis of Cushing; four sons, William of Tryon; Asa of Goodnight; Wayne of Pierce, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Louella Garver of Simla, Colo.; six brothers, Henry, Roy and Oliver of Topeka; Jesse of Oilton; Daniel E. of Simla; and Marion of Auburn, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Tryon Christian church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, Sept. 11, with burial in the Tryon cemetery under direction of Henthorn Funeral home, Coyle.
