She was born to Alberto and Felicitas Espinoza Sept. 17, 1961, and was a lifelong resident of Lubbock. She graduated from Lubbock High School and attended South Plains College and Texas Tech University. Melinda had recently retired after 24 years of service with the City of Lubbock. Family life was a high priority for her and the love of her life was her children. Melinda was a faith filled Christian and member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alberto Espinoza Sr.; daughter, Bianca Iris Espinoza Garcia; maternal grandparents, Bernabe and Bartola Valdez; and paternal grandparents, Roman and Herlinda Espinoza.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Holly Jade Torres; son, Andrew Daniel Muñoz; mother, Felicitas Valdez; four sisters, Emelda Valdez, Stacey Perez, Angelica Najera and Michaela Najera; three brothers, Rogerio Lopez, Alberto Espinoza Jr. and Todd Michael Espinoza; aunts, Jimmy and Eva Rodriguez, and Clementina Valdez; uncles, Rudy and Cybil Espinoza, Natividad Valdez, and Bernabe and Susie Valdez Jr.; and numerous cousins and friends.
Prayer service will be tonight at 7 p.m. in Guajardo Funeral Chapels. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice of Lubbock.
