After serving his country, Al was a land man in South Texas. His career then turned to Private Investigation.

Al lived life to the fullest. He was witty, vibrant, and a man that took every opportunity to grab what life offered.

He was much loved and touched many lives during his 85 years on earth.

He is greatly missed.

(The original headstone was replaced. The first one included "I didn't come here to dance" which is what he invariably said to any waitress asking if he was "ready to order". The second one had a different inscription that included "watch that wire". He was such a jokester!)

His headstone was changed after his interment. "watch that wire" refers to Al's penchant for startling folks walking by. Yes, he was indeed a special man.
