Cordelia O. Shields, 89, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, in Memorial Hospital in Chester. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas E. Fast officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Gorham. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Ava, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.
Mrs. Shields was a homemaker and a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
She was born April 23, 1907, in Jacob to Emanuel and Martha Boehme Bellmann. She married Erwin Moeckel on Feb. 15, 1930, in St. Louis. He died March 22, 1963. She married William C. Shields on July 10, 1971, in Ava. He survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Stella Moeckel of Murphysboro and Leona Geaschel of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.
