He was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Metamora, Ill., to Joseph J. and Ida S. (Gries) Marchand. He married Viola J. Fredericks on June 15, 1943, in Metamora, Ill. She passed away on July 3, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Annette; three brothers; and one sister.
Wilbert farmed his whole life in Metamora. He also drove the school bus for Metamora Grade School and had worked for McBride and Shoff and the Metamora Abattoir.
He was a sales representative for L.G. Seeds, where he received the master dealer award. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lady of Sorrows Council 3060, and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
