Services for Donald " Papa Don" Gene Fairless, 82 of Healdton will be 11:00 AM Friday December 31, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Healdton, with Pastor David Hand officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home in Healdton.
Don was born November 12, 1928 in Covington, Ok. to James Thomas and Beulah Juanita (Crawford) Fairless. He passed from this life December 27, 2010 in Okla. City.
Don was raised and attended school in Covington. He enlisted in The US Air Force, serving from 1947 – 1950. After being honorably discharged from the service he went to work in the oilfields, Sinclair Oil in Seminole and then for Arco in Healdton, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed reading and fixing things and when he fixed anything it stayed fixed. He was a Deacon and Elder in the church when he lived in Seminole and a Sunday School Teacher and member of the First Christian Church in Healdton. He loved his family very much, they always came first. He was a very kind man, affectionately known to everyone as "Papa Don".
Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patty (House) Fairless in 2003, brother James O. Fairless and sister Kitty Hopkins.
He is survived by 3 sons, Mike Fairless, Edmond, Ok, Joe Fairless, St. Louis Missouri and Steven Fairless, Blanchard, OK. a daughter Peggy Taylor, Sugarland, TX - 2 brothers Ollie M. Fairless, Edmond and Tom L. Fairless, Okla. City. Sister Alice Faye Hodge, Moore, step son Steven Sullivan, Okla. City, 3 step daughters, Gemma Meador, Ardmore, Paula Hill, Okla. City and Susie Hughes, Irving, TX. 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Adam Taylor, Josh Fairless, John Fairless, Nicholas Hill Steve Sullivan and Brad Hodge.
